About this puzzle
Johannes Vermeer is one of the most celebrated Dutch painters of the 17th century. He was also an art dealer and valuer so could not commit all of his time to painting, in fact, there are just 36 complete works. This iconic work by Jan Vermeer is one of his most famous and recognisable. Not considered a portrait, but instead a 'tronie' - a painting of a fictional figure. Vermeer's works are often characterised by the subtle use of yellow, blue and grey throughout - creating a cool, serene, balanced but intimate scene.
